Trends in the Hospitality Industry Nowadays trends are everywhere. You can find them in every industry and they play a huge role. The retro trend in clothing, the SUV trend in the car industry, but nowhere else are trends more important than in the hospitality industry. But what exactly is a trend? A trend describes usually the time measurable course of a development into a certain quantitative and/or qualitative direction. In economics, trends are changes of the behavior of the society. In marketing research this describes the change and development of the consumerism and consumption behavior. In old days it was okay for a hotel to have only rooms and a restaurant. The reality is that in law enforcement there is a contrast between the levels of law enforcement. Each level has substantial responsibility to protect citizens of the United States against foreign and domestic criminals and must be able to operate cohesively as one during the times of severe emergencies and when called upon to work together whether it is, for example transporting a fugitive or a catastrophic event such as 9/11. The following are the differences between the levels of law enforcement: Most of the law enforcement activity occurs at the local level, and therefore the local level has most of the authority and responsibility. The Local levels are dealing with the community relations, community policing and has jurisdiction of their cities and counties. The State Law Enforcement Officers primary responsibility is that of traffic enforcement of our state highways, which in California is the CHP, California Highway Patrol. They also have the responsibility to ensure the vehicles that travel our highways are meeting state safety regulation and get properly inspected. The Federal Government has Law Enforcement Authority and have an increased role to law enforcement recently especially since our crimes are now more sophisticated and go beyond our nation boarders. It is important to note though however, that most of the responsibility still lies at the local level. Agencies covered under the Federal umbrella are: Military (CID) Criminal Investigation Division, FBI Federal Bureau of Investigation, DEA Drug Enforcement Administration, BAFT Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms an agency of the Treasury Department, Customs, and Secret Service. Local, State and Federal agencies have similar functions and may differ due to jurisdictions, although as mentioned, the primary role is that of protecting our citizens from crimes and working cohesively as one at every level of law enforcement. In the play â€Å"A Streetcar Named Desire† by Tennessee Williams, the family is broken up due to the desires of both Blanche DuBois and Stanley Kowalski. However, Stella, Stanley’s wife, also contributes to the unfaithfulness of her husband. It is Stella’s weak demeanor and complete difference in identity from that of her sister, Blanche, that drives Stanley to commit an unfaithful act with Blanche. No one person is to blame for the breakup of the DuBois/Kowalski family. Blanche, Stella, and even Stanley played their own role is disrupting the peace that was once shared among them. Blanche desires what her sister has all though it is not much. Stella has a husband to care for her. A husband that loves her, that no one could question, meaning that he is not gay. Stella’s life is one that is settled and complete. Blanche, on the other hand, has a life that is in turmoil. She arrives in New Orleans a talkative, witty, arrogant, fragile, and eventually a crumbling figure. Blanche once was married to and passionately in love with a tortured young man. He killed himself after she discovered his homosexuality, and she has suffered from guilt and regret ever since. She wants a cultured man but is often subconsciously attracted to strong, macho male characters, perhaps a response to her marriage with a cultured, sensitive man which ended in disaster. So, although Blanche dislikes Stanley as a person, she is drawn to him as a type of man who is obviously heterosexual and who is strong enough to protect her from a harsh world. Stanley is ultimately what she wants, yet detests, and, because of Stella she can not have him. Stanley desires a woman who is cultured, who has seen the world and has the ability to be outspoken.
